Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has unveiled MYR250 billion Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package (PRIHATIN) on 27 March 2020, with the objective of protecting the people, supporting businesses and strengthening the economy to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The amount includes a fiscal injection of MYR22 billion, government guarantees totaling MYR55 billion and other initiatives of more than MYR153 billion. The amount, which includes the MYR20 billion package announced previously, of almost MYR128 billion, will be channeled towards safeguarding the people’s welfare, MYR100 billion to support businesses including the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and MYR2 billion to strengthen the national economy.

The three main goals of the PRIHATIN Package are: Lindungi Rakyat (Safeguarding the people’s welfare), Sokongan Perniagaan (Businesses support) and Perkukuh Ekonomi (Strengthen the national economy).
